ABOUT ME
Hey there! My name's Alfie Bawcutt and I'm a 23 year old drum teacher and freelance drummer based in North London. I graduated with a 2:1 in Popular Music Performance in Drums at BIMM London (British and Irish Modern Music Institute) in the Winter of 2024, where I was tutored by many prolific drummers and experienced musicians including Rhythm magazine contributor Erik Stams, Giuseppe Grondona (Eric Clapton, Coolio) and Steve Allsworth (Westlife, Lily Allen). With over a decade of drumming experience, I've worked with many talented musicians, played many gigs and shows and have become very accomplished at many different genres and styles. Most recently, I became the drummer for a number of bands and artists including Edge, a heavy rock band based in South West London and Kontra, a heavy metal band from the same area. I have passed all 8 Rockschool Syllabus Grades, achieving multiple distinctions including a distinction in Grade 8. A few of my inspirations for drumming and music include Travis Barker, Snarky Puppy, Aric Improta, Jonathan Moffet and Silk Sonic.
Some of my experience over the past decade includes:
-
Recording drums for Chesney Hawkes' team
-
Offered a place for the National Youth Theatre
-
Performed drums in productions of Little Shop of Horrors, Joseph and the Amazing Technicolour Dreamcoat and School of Rock
-
Performed at venues such as O2 Sheperd's Bush Empire, O2 Academy Islington, Chickenshed Theatre, Guilfest 2024, White City House, The Half-Moon (Putney), The Troubadour and The Water Rats
LESSONS
Exploring the Basics

LESSON CONTENT
With each student, I offer personalised lessons that will help the student achieve their drumming goals through high quality teaching books, worksheets and videos. Some drum tutorials are supplied by Drumology, which can be purchased here. I am always open to listen to the student about how they would like their lesson to go, or what they would like to learn. With extensive knowledge in styles, techniques and drum theory, my ambition is to share my knowledge with everyone who wants to learn the drums.
I am fully DBS checked and a member of The Musicians Union.
If the student wishes to undertake Grades, I use the Rockschool Syllabus. Grades are an effective way of progressing your skills in drumming, but not essential.
Alfie teaches our 8 year old daughter the drums and we’ve found his method of teaching has been great for her. Her confidence and ability has grown each week. Alfie is very relaxed, calm and encouraging. Our daughter loves the lessons and we can highly recommend Alfie to anyone.
Guler R.
Alfie is a really great teacher. He helps my son figure out what he wants to do and lets him decide what he wants to play or do which he really loves.
Brigid H.
Alfie was one of my “Rising Star” students from the moment he started as a beginner right up to achieving a Distinction at Grade 8, which is no mean feat. I could not recommend a better teacher.
Nick Baker, Drumology.

STUDIO
The studio is located in a large detached house in New Barnet. (Feel free to get in touch about the precise location). The studio is very unique as there are two kits adjacent to each other. This allows me to teach from my kit and to demonstrate skills directly which is extremely beneficial. The student kit is a pristine Pearl Roadshow 5 Piece Kit in Glimmering Blue. With a double layer soundproof carpet and dampening gel and rings, it's the perfect place to get the best sound out of your playing. See below for more images of the studio.
